Activision Closing Blizzard Office In France - Report

Activision is closing its Blizzard tainment headquarters at Versailles, France, according to a report published by Bloomberg. It's not known how many people were laid off and precisely the date at which the France site will close.

Bloomberg's sources said Activision Blizzard would inform employees in the coming week about the future regarding the Versailles office, as well as the job they hold and if moving to another studio is an option. Bloomberg states they believe Activision Blizzard had originally intended to relocate the half of its Versailles office to London, but Brexit and the coronavirus epidemic created risks that ultimately hindered the process of moving.

French labor laws do not, however, require companies to agree on a fair amount of compensation for employees who are affected by mass layoffs.

Blizzard claimed the Versailles employees were informed of the possibility of a "proposed project" to redesign the office. The company also stated that supporting its employees during this stressful period is the top priority.

"Over the past year we have been looking at ways we could better integrate our capabilities across all areas of the business and enable us to more effectively leverage our talent, experience and scale as we adapt to the demands of a rapidly-changing, highly competitive sector that is digitally driven," Blizzard said in a statement. "In the context of our Versailles office the direction of Blizzard France was notified by employees of a potential initiative to organize its operations. Supporting our employees through this process is our primary priority. We are currently working through a variety of procedures to facilitate this. In addition, there is a CSE meeting is scheduled for cheap WoTLK Gold October 13th and 14th. Until then, as there is a pre-determined legal process, we're not able to give further details."
