This particular Bentley Mulsanne Speed has a specific set of options, including a Bamford Watch Department case and an overall look that I tend to associate with some of Bamford's tastes. George Bamford is quite a prolific Bentley collector, so he can do cool things like add some stuff from his company to these high-end Bentley Mulsanne Speed cars and other Bentley Mulliner products. George himself was known for his flamboyance, but in his English style, evoking luxury through a combination of edgy and restrained, he was more demure. As mentioned above, perhaps the most interesting interior detail for us watch lovers is the "hidden" storage area located between the two rear passenger seats, also designed for a humidor. Fold a compartment cover and there is a specially designed (if not very impractical) storage container for carbon fiber and metal watch storage tubs. No one actually told me about this detail, and I was happy to find it was part of my usual peek inside the cool details of high-end cars.
You'll see Mulliner branding everywhere on this Bentley Mulsanne Speed, as that's the name of Bentley's in-house bespoke shop. Mulliner cars are those with bespoke elements for the customer, and that shop is where all the most unique Bentleys are made. What really sets them apart from most other high-end production cars is the level of handcrafted craftsmanship and personalization options. The Mulsanne range is Bentley's most exclusive model line-up right now, and it's also just as big, weighing in at just under 6,000 pounds. It's also about 18 feet long, which might explain why I affectionately refer to this car as a "land yacht." The watch is 45mm wide and has some really lovely curves and angles as well as specially designed chronograph pushers. It's the perfect combination of power and movement, mixed with a stately elegance that still declares itself loudly when you enter the room.
